VP - Origination & Analytics (Energy trading & Optimization)

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build brand awareness through networking, developing sales and marketing materials, and managing opportunities.

  • Understand client needs and create tailored solutions.

  • Demonstrate value propositions, run demos, and explain benefits to clients.

  • Support the full client acquisition process, including pitches, RFP responses, proposals, scenario modelling, and contract negotiations.

  • Manage client relationships from onboarding to ongoing support, focusing on retention.

  • Support advisory services by qualifying opportunities, developing proposals, and managing delivery and follow-up.

  • Engage with balance sheet providers and tolling off takers to develop risk management and structured products (for suitable candidates).

Must-Have Skills & Experience:

  • 3+ years in energy markets (business development, origination, trading, commodity markets, consulting, asset management, QSEs, or modelling).

  • Strong numerical skills and technical understanding.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with clients and teams.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with keen attention to detail.

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and solve complex problems.

  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, non-hierarchical environment.

  • Degree in business, economics, finance, engineering, or a related field.

Nice-to-Have Skills & Experience:

  • Network within the US power markets (IPPs, developers, or energy-focused investment firms).

  • Experience in energy storage optimization.

  • Knowledge of risk management and structured product origination (tolls, revenue floors).

  • Experience setting up QSEs and onboarding assets.

  • Experience with analytical/technical pricing models and financial evaluations.

  • Graduate degree in business or STEM fields.
